Hi. I’m Paul Buksbazen a.k.a. Mr. B., and I love teaching music! I started teaching music in 1994 after receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from SUNY Potsdam, the Crane School of Music. I’ve taught music for over 20 years. I started in the Guilderland School District in Albany, NY. Then our family moved to Charlotte, NC in 2004 where I’ve been teaching in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District.
During my career, I’ve led worship in the church, taught music education workshops on improvisation, music theory, teaching guitar, and other related topics. I’ve been invited to be a choral clinician for all-county festivals and as a choir director my choirs have received the highest marks at music festivals. My choirs have been chosen to perform with Ricky Skaggs and to be on the NBC Today Show performing with Colbie Callait.
After school I teach a growing studio of piano, guitar, and vocal students. Each one of them is encouraged to become the unique artist who they are inside. Much of the repertoire they perform is chosen by them (with guidance from me) so each student is deeply invested in their performance and growth.
Over the last several years, creativity, improvisation, and songwriting have become central to everything I do in Music Education, and I look forward to being a resource for people who look to incorporate it into their classrooms and studios.
